Ya Ali Madad and Idd ul-Fitr Mubarak. May Allah grant material, spiritual and intellectual happiness to Muslims all over the world, and to all those who have prayed and fasted (physically and spiritually) in Holy Ramadan. Ameen.
On this day, may Noor Mowlana Shah Rahim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam, the 50th direct lineal descendant of the Holy Prophet (s.a.s.), grant peace, prosperity, happiness, barakat, higher spiritual enlightenment, spiritual & luminous tayid (help) and empowerment to the global Jamat in this year. Ameen.
Allâhumâ salli alâ Muhammadin wa âle Muhammad
(O Allah! Bestow Peace on and through Muhammad and his Descendants).
Introduction
This post focuses on bounty bestowed by Allah on all believers and ties in beautifully with the celebration of our first Idd ul-Fitr in the reign of our 50th Holy Imam, Noor Mowlana Shah Rahim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam (a.s.). We will explore this topic through the following headings.
This post has three parts:
- First Ayat from Surah Al-Maidah and Its commentary;
- Second Ayat from Surah Al-Maidah and Its commentary;
- Esoteric Interpretation of Dua-e-Qunut.
1. First Ayat from Surah Al-Maidah and Its Commentary
Ayat 5:3
This ayat reads as follows:
‘This day(e) have I perfected for you, your religion, and have completed My favour on you, and have chosen ISLAM (to be) the Religion.’
Holy Quran Ayat 5:3
Note to Ayat 5:3
Here is the note for the above ayat from S. V. Mir Ahmed Ali’s translation of the Holy Quran:
(e) This part of this verse was revealed at ‘Ghadeer-e-Khum’ immediately at the declaration of Ali ibne Talib as the ‘Moula, Lord, Master, Commander, Governor in the place of the Holy Prophet [as described] under Vr. 67 of the same Surah [which we recite it in the beginning of the third part of our Holy Dua].
Footnote 653 S. V. Mir Ahmed Ali, p.445
2. Second Ayat from Surah Al-Maidah and Its Commentary
Ayat 5:7
This ayat reads as follows:
‘And653 remember ye the bounties of God on you, and His covenant He hath bound you with, when ye said “We have heard (Thy Commandment) and we have obeyed (it sincerely).” And fear ye God. Verily. God knoweth whatever is (hidden)
Holy Quran Ayat 5:7
in your breasts (hearts).’
Explanation of Ayat 5:7
Here is the footnote for the above ayat from S. V. Mir Ahmed Ali’s translation of the Holy Quran:
‘Vr. 7 (653) …The covenant referred to here is said to be the bounty of God upon the people. The covenant must must naturally be a blessing to the believer not only of the time [of revelation] but to all those may belong to the fold until the Day of Resurrection. It must be something worth mentioning by His Blessings to every believer in the truth. It is the covenant about Ali taken by God through His Apostle Muhammad at ‘Ghadeer-e-Khum’ by which the door of divine guidance was declared open at the conclusion of the ‘Risalat’ or the apostleship which was undoubtedly the greatest blessing of God to mankind.
The address is to the Muslims and bounties referred to here are with reference to the declaration mentioned the last clause of Vr. 3 and the covenant with which the Muslims were bound, is the last covenant taken from them at Ghadeer-e-Khum by the Holy Prophet in compliance to the commandment of the Lord in Vr. 67 for Ali ibne Abi Taleb.
Footnote 653 S. V. Mir Ahmed Ali, pp.451-452.
And ‘When ye said…‘ refers to the wording of the response from the audience to the declaration of the ‘Vilayat’ of Ali ibne Abi Taleb, by the Holy Prophet on the 18th of Zilhaj, 10 A.H. at Ghadeer-e-Khum, which has been recorded by all historians and the traditionists with all the details about what took place on the spot on that historic day.
3. Esoteric Interpretation of Dua-e-Qunut
The Dua-e-Qunut is recited 5 times in the first rakat and four times in the second rakat of Idd Namaz.
