Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim
In the name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful

Ya Ali Madad and Idd Mubarak. On the occasion of the commemoration of the great spiritually uplifting event of Idd-e-Ghadir, the first Imamat Day of our first beloved Holy Imam, Amirul-Mu’mineen, NOOR Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.), please accept our heartfelt felicitations!

On this day, may Noor Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam, the 49th direct lineal descendant of the Holy Prophet (s.a.s.), grant peace, prosperity, happiness, barakat, higher spiritual enlightenment, spiritual & luminous tayid (help) and empowerment to the global Jamat as we go through this difficult period. Ameen.

Allâhumâ salli alâ Muhammadin wa âle Muhammad (O Allah! Bestow Peace on and through Muhammad and his Descendants).

Explanation of Ayat 5:3

Footnote 649

This verse having been revealed immediately following the proclamation of Imamat of Ali after the apostleship of the Holy Prophet, makes it quite obvious beyond all doubts that Islam needed only the general proclamation of Ali’s succeeding the Holy Prophet, to be completed as a perfect religion. The natural inference from this divine proclamation can be nothing but that, without believing in Ali being the immediate successor to the Holy Prophet, the faith is not perfect. The Final Word of God meant for humanity on earth for all times, was conveyed through the revelation of the Holy Quran to Muhammad, the Last of the Apostles of God. Facing the orders of natural incompetency of the people emerging from the lowest depth of idolatry, and passing the life under the swords of the enemies, and bearing cheerfully all the calamities which confronted him, the Holy Prophet presented ideal Islamic life with perfect examples of the correct practice of the faith and had also given the necessary explanations of the Holy Quran, the Final Word of God. And the institution of Imamat was to secure the Word of God in its originality and with its correct interpretation, whenever necessary for the proper guidance of humanity to the last day of the life of the world about correct belief and its faithful practice.

No companion of the Holy Prophet could ever have been vested with this responsibility, for they were all, more or less once corrupt and misled. The post needed some infallible and divinely conditioned ones like the Holy Prophet himself, to have never in their lives gone astray. Besides the holy personality of the Holy Prophet there was one holy individual who could exclusively claim never to have bowed to any false god or gods, and that was Ali and Ali alone. It is this distinction for which even the common masses of the Muslim world, mention Ali’s name with a suffix ‘Karrumullahu Wajahu’ meaning ‘He whose face God made graceful’, by preserving it against bowing to any false god. As regards Ali’s possessing the divinely inspired knowledge, the Muslim world as a whole knows and unanimously acknowledges that it was only Ali and none else, that the Holy Prophet said: “O’ Ali! seest thou whatever I see and heareth thou what I do hear—save that there will be no apostle to come after me”—”I am the City of knowledge and Ali is its Gate.”

Excerpts from Sermon 2 of Noor Mowlana Murtaza Ali (a.s.)

Arabia before Proclamation of Prophethood
Delivered On Return From Siffeen

I praise Allah seeking completion of His Blessing, submitting to His Glory and expecting safety from committing His sins. I invoke His help being in need of His Sufficiency (of protection). He whom He guides does not get astray, He with whom He is hostile gets no protection. He whom He supports does not remain needy. Praise is most weighty of all that is weighed and the most valuable of all that is treasured.

I stand witness that there is no god but Allah the One. He has no like. My testimony has been tested in its frankness, and its essence is our belief. We shall cling to it forever till we live and shall store it facing the tribulations that overtake us because it is the foundation stone of belief (Imaan) and the first step towards good actions and Divine pleasure. It is the means to keep Satan away.

I also stand witness that Mohammad (p.b.u.h.a.h.p.) is His slave and His Prophet. Allah sent him with the illustrious religion, effective emblem, written Book (The Preserved Record), effulgent light, sparkling gleam and decisive injunction in order to dispel doubts, present clear proofs, administer warning through signs and to warn of punishments. At that time people had fallen in vices whereby the rope of religion had been broken, the pillars of belief had been shaken, principles had been violated, system had become topsy turvy, openings were narrow, passage was dark, guidance was unknown and darkness prevailed.

Household of Holy Prophet (Ahlul-Bayt)
They are the trustees of His secrets, shelter for His affairs, source of knowledge about Him, centre of His wisdom, valleys for His books and mountains of His religion. With them Allah straightened the bend of religion’s back and removed the trembling of its limbs.

Excerpt from ‘The Doctrine of The Ismailis’

The function of the Proclaimer (natiq), i.e., the Messenger, is, therefore, to proclaim the plain revelation (tanzil). The function of the Imam is the esoteric interpretation (tawil) of this plain revelation. It is also the reaching of the inner meaning (ilm al-batin) of the divine Message and the guidance of the believers along the right path (at-tariqa), according to the developing conditions of time and human society, as it was mentioned above.

In this respect al-Qadi an-Numan says:

‘[God] brings down one single thing having an outer meaning and an inner one. He (to whom belongs glory and power) made its outer meaning the miracle of His Messenger, and its inner meaning the meaning the miracle of the Imams from among his family, which inner meaning is only found with them. No one can convey the outer meaning of the Book except their grandfather, Muhammad, the Messenger of God (God’s blessing and peace be upon him), and no one can convey its inner meaning except the Imams of his progeny. It is a knowledge abundant among them and deposited in them. They use it in addressing every people according to what they understand; they give it to those of every level (hadd) according to what they deserve; they withhold it from those who deserve to be held back. This is according to the saying of the All-mighty, the All-giving. “This is our gift; bestow or withhold without reckoning” (Holy Qur’an 38:39).’ (Source: Al-Qadi an Numan, Asas at-Tawil. pp.31-32)

Thus, as Prophethood is concerned with the Zahir, Imamate is concerned with the Batin. Consequently, one can only attain the knowledge of the Batin from the Zahir.

Noor Mowlana Sultan Muhammad Shah (a.s.) has taught us that if we read religious books, we will come to know that the throne of Imamat is continuous, perpetual and everlasting. Idd-e-Gaddir Mubarak.
