Let us reflect upon the Institution of Imamat and offer heartfelt gratitude for the guidance and vision of our present and living Holy Imam.
On this day, may Noor Mowlana Shah Karim Al-Hussaini Hazar Imam, the 49th direct lineal descendant of the Holy Prophet (s.a.s.), grant peace, prosperity, happiness, barakat, higher spiritual enlightenment, spiritual & luminous tayid (help) and empowerment to the global Jamat as we go through this difficult period. Ameen.
Allâhumâ salli alâ Muhammadin wa âle Muhammad (O Allah! Bestow Peace on and through Muhammad and his Descendants).
Let us start by studying the footnote presented below for the verse of the Holy Quran presented above.
Explanation of Ayat 42:23
Footnote 2198
The verse is clear in its meaning that the Holy Prophet, is being commanded to ask believers to love his kith and kin, i.e., the holy Ahlul-Bait and that would be the return of his apostolic services. This command has a very wide and extensive meaning to tell the Muslims:
“If you want to pay the return of for His services, and be always on the right path, and to be on the right path you should follow my Ahlul-Bait in word and deed for these are ones whom God has Himself purified (33:33) and these are the truthful ones and these are the custodians of the original Word of God and its correct interpretation.”
It was asked of the Holy Prophet as to which his relatives are to loved as been has made incumbent upon every Muslim? The Holy Prophet said:
“Ali, and Fatima and Hasan and Hussain and said ‘He who hurts or displeases my Ahlul-Bait, Paradise shall be forbidden to him’.“

The Spiritual Status Of Ahlul-Bait
I am now presenting excerpts from BL OR 8419 An Untitled Work attributed to Abu Abd Allah al-Shi’i published in book entitled ‘Affirming the Imamat: Early Fatimid Teachings in the Islamic West’ edited and translated by Wilfred Madelung and Paul E. Walker, I. B. Tauris, London in association with the Institute of Ismaili Studies, London, 2021.
Then truly God chose, for all the worlds, from the family of Muhammad, just as he had chosen from the family of ‘Imran. Khadija was the equal of Asiya, the wife of Pharaoh. She was the first female believer in Muhammad. ‘Ali, peace be upon him was [the first male believer]. Aaron had been the first to follow Moses and ‘Ali, peace be upon him, was the first to follow Muhammad. So God said: ‘None believed in Moses except some youths in his people in fear that Pharaoh and his nobles would persecute them’ [Q 10:8]. And none believed in Muhammad, except some youths of his people such as Ja’far and ‘Ali, out of the fear the pharaohs of the Quraysh would persecute them. His (‘Ali’s) position with respect to our prophet was the position of Aaron with respect to Moses, except that there will be no prophet after our holy prophet. Muhammad, the prophet, and ‘Ali, the legatee, prayed together for seven years in Mecca in fear, just as Moses had tarried [a period of] eight pilgrimages with Shu-ayb out of fear of his people. Therefore God’s Apostle said, ‘The angles prayed for me and ‘Ali for seven years. No male prayed with me other than him.’
Fatima, peace be upon her, was the equal of Maryam; God selected her and purified her over the women of the two worlds, like Maryam the daughter of Imran. May God protect her and her offspring from the accursed Satan. Then God said: ‘God wants to drive impurity out of you, O people of the House, and cleanse you by purifying’ [Q 33:33]. The Apostle of God said, ‘This verse was revealed about five of us, about me, ‘Ali, Fatima, al-Hasan and al-Husayn, so that I and my family may be those purified of filth and rendered immune to the accursed Satan.’

The Descent of Heavenly Food
God caused a table to descend from Heaven to Fatima, just as He had descended a table to Maryam, daughter of Imran, on the day she entered her mihrab and prayed two rak’as. Then she said, ‘O Lord, this is Muhammad Your Prophet and this is ‘Ali the cousin of Your prophet. I am Fatima, daughter of Your prophet and these are al-Hasan and al-Husayn, the two grandsons of Your prophet. O God, make descend on us a table from heaven just as You caused it to descend on the Israelites, though they refused to believe in it. Our Lord, if you cause it to come down, I will not refuse to believe in it’. At that, behold, there was by the side of the mihrab a plate of tharid (broth) and on it was meat from which exuded the smell of musk. Fatima carried it and placed it in front of the Apostle of God, may the blessings of God be upon him and his family. The prophet turned towards it and ate, with ‘Ali watching. So he said. “O Abu’l-Hasan, eat and ask not. Praise be to God who has shown us in you and her what Zakariya’ saw in Maryam.’ Whenever Zakariya’ came in to see her in the mihrab, he found with her food; he said: “O Maryam. from where comes this to you”; she said: “it is from God, truly God provides food to whomsoever He wills without a reckoning”‘[Q 3:37].
